1. Origin of Coffee + Introduction to Vietnam coffee
Coffee, with its ancient roots in the Ethiopian highlands, journeyed globally to find a unique place in Vietnam, thanks to the French colonial influence. In Vietnam’s lush climate, ideal for cultivation, the bean thrived, bolstering economic growth and robusta production. The Vietnamese, with their penchant for cultural adaptation, not only adopted but reinvented coffee, leading to iconic brews like the sweetened condensed milk version. This fusion, a blend of history, climate, and culture, deeply integrated coffee into the very fabric of Vietnamese daily life and traditions.
2. Unique Vietnamese Coffee Styles
Vietnamese coffee styles are numerous and vary quite a bit. I will be going through the background, method and taste of several of the most prominent coffee varieties in Vietnam. The rich and interesting types of coffee in Vietnam would be widely appreciated back in London, England, where I’m from, and I’m going to make it my mission upon getting back home to find a Vietnamese coffee shop that can hopefully mimic the standard of coffee found here in Vietnam!
3. Branding and Specialty Coffee Movement
We will explore the remarkable revolution and international success stories of two renowned Vietnamese coffee brands: Trung Nguyên Coffee and Cộng Coffee. These brands have not only transformed the coffee landscape in Vietnam but have also made a significant impact on the global coffee market.
