You might choose to just skip these awkward conversations but being the person who starts the conversation might just give you some extra brownie points! Our presentation aims to investigate why new social circles are so awkward and provide some tips on how to prepare topics/conversation starters and how to actively listen and pick up on others&#8217; interests. <p><strong>Feedforward</strong>, a concept introduced by business educator and coach <strong><em>Marshall Goldsmith</em></strong>, is rapidly gaining traction, and for good reason. Properly used, Feedforward can help create a better workplace by aiding individuals in moving beyond the invisible barriers that hinder their productivity and performance.</p>
<p>People giving feedback may not pay as much attention as they should on proposing objective and potential solutions for future improvement. <em>Feedforward, on the other hand, allows people to concentrate more on giving potential, practical and objective advice that is helpful for actual improvement in the future.</em></p>

	<p>At every academic environment and also workplace, you may have or will encounter small talk with new people, either in formal situations or informal ones. Small talk can create a huge impression on your first meeting with strangers, who might be your business partners, new teammates, or someone to soon enter your social circle. Therefore, it is important that you know how to initiate a short conversation with them, especially when you are in a business meeting or a formal business dinner and there requires ice breaking talks. From this communication skill, the drinking etiquette is also linked as when you apply small talk with strangers at a business dinner, they may notice it and make observations. It is also helpful to know the drinking rules of different cultures on a formal business dining table in case your business partners come from a different background. By joining this knowledge session, we will first introduce you to how to make small talk effectively, and then equip you with the necessary drinking etiquette that will later come in handy for your business cases.</p>

<p>Do you get anxious when you don&#8217;t get your group&#8217;s jokes, or don&#8217;t know what a colleague says in front of you? Don&#8217;t worry, you are not alone! FOMO, or Fear of Missing Out, is the name of this mental syndrome which directs people to believe they are not included in things and events that they think they should be. In a hybrid workplace context, this fear manifests itself as feelings of insecurity about our effectiveness and efficiency for not being physically present.</p>
<p>In this Knowledge Sharing session of us, you will get to understand where your fear comes from, and how to overcome it for the best experience at work.</p>
