About the event
Anxiety disorders are prevalent globally. According to Forbes, anxiety disorders grew from about 298 million people affected to 374 million, which is about a 25% increase. Work-related stress is a contributing factor to anxiety. High work demands, excessive workload, job insecurity, lack of control, poor support systems, and conflicts in the workplace can contribute to anxiety among employees. While remote work offers flexibility and eliminates certain stressors associated with traditional office environments, it can also introduce unique challenges that contribute to anxiety.
Anxiety can have a significant impact on productivity and work performance. It may lead to decreased concentration, difficulty making decisions, impaired memory, reduced creativity, and absenteeism. Over the years, there has been an increased focus on mental health awareness and support in the workplace. Many organizations are implementing employee assistance programs (EAPs), providing mental health resources, and fostering a supportive work culture to address anxiety-related concerns.
In our presentation, we hope to raise awareness about anxiety at work and what are current policies or solutions. In addition, we hope to provide more insights and recommendations on how to decrease anxiety at workplace to create a safe space for all employees.
