Why's of hosting TRG Talks
Why 1 – As we believe it’s important for communities of like-minded people to form and grow and a key to this is to host regular events. Someone has to do it and so we’re doing it!
Why 2 – More often than not, people find out about a meetup or event, they miss it, or they hear about it after the event. They have a desire to go to that event or a similar event, however, what tends to happen is that since the events are not regular, the next event you also end up missing or don’t hear about it in time. And after a few times of that happening, you sort of give up on it.
Why 3 – Conveniently, we happen to have PJ’s Coffee as one of our business lines (so allow us to be a teensy bit biased) and they have great Coffee – and we have a great venue too.
Why 4 – We notice, that at more formal events held at Hotels there is limited interaction with the audience. TRG Talks are smaller, less formal, and with great PJ’s Coffee become more interactive.
Why 5 – Putting it all together, to us the solution was obvious! We needed to create a regular event at the same time, at the same place, every single month – it needed to be smaller and more informal, in order to drive much greater attendee participation, thus the solution was the TRG Talk, in a TEDx Talk style of ideally about 20 minutes of talking and the rest of the time pure attendee engagement.

Every year, we make sure to reserve funds for charity programs across the country to help the poor, needy and most vulnerable in the community. For close to a decade we made annual trips to the orphanage with rice and other essentials.
In the recent past few years we’ve switched to the company matching monetary contributions to double the amount our people donate and have supported and participated in an annual exodus to some remote locations around Vietnam to deliver literally tonnes of rice and truckloads of essentials.
We annually participate in the British Business Group (BBGV) Fun Run and The Terry Fox Run.

We appear to have been one of the largest employers of RMIT students and many of the interns we took in have risen to become our senior managers or full time staff.
Since the start of RMIT in Vietnam, TRG has taken both interns and graduate-entry students from RMIT and helped them kickstart their careers. We helped establish RMIT’s internship program back in the day (we even became the poster child too) and have taken in either interns or graduates or both from literally every graduating year since the very first. We’ve had more than our share of RMIT Presidents award students, in most cases, they were awarded that after they had been selected by TRG.
Over the years, we appear to have been one of the largest employers of RMIT students and many of the interns we took in have risen through TRG to become senior managers or full-time staff. Many more have continued their career journey beyond TRG and now hold senior positions at many other IT companies and some even returned to RMIT as faculty.
Our CEO, Rick Yvanovich is a regular guest speaker at RMIT Vietnam covering a wide range of topics. Rick is currently the Chairman of the Industry Advisory Committee, RMIT Vietnam and a member of the School Advisory Committee for the School of Business IT and Logistics, RMIT Melbourne.
