“Lead The Change” is an annual competition for young people who have a passion for start-up. This year, the competition was co-organised by UEH Connected community, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, the U.S. Consulate Ho Chi Minh City, Accelerator Startup Campus, Co-working Space Campus K, and Saigon Innovation Hub.

“The main goal of Lead The Change is to find and cultivate young talents who have many creative start-up ideas but don&#8217;t have enough necessary skills or resources. Through a series of training programs by entrepreneurs and experienced mentors from the Start-up Training Community, the candidates are given the opportunity to broaden up their minds. From then, they will become leaders of the change and will contribute to the Vietnamese economy in the future.” &#8211; Mr Huynh Cong Thang &#8211; CEO of ViCGO, Founder of UEH Connected, and Chairman of the Organising Committee &#8211; shared his thoughts on the final day of the competition.

With the concept of “Change”, entrepreneurs and guest speakers on the final days of the competition shared many tips and business best practices to the youth. “Learning to deal with the change is very important as you are about to enter a world that is unpredictable.” &#8211; Ms Mary Tarnowka, Consul General of the U.S. Consulate Ho Chi Minh City, commented.

Proud to be one of the judges, mentors and trainers of all five rounds of the competition, our CEO, Mr Rick Yvanovich, shared: “To succeed in this era, the entrepreneur must be aware of the customer’s actual needs and quickly come up with the solutions, the products for that market.” He advised the participants “to be brave, to focus on your own strengths, to keep learning; at the same time, to not afraid of failing, try to overcome your challenges and make use of them.”
Lead The Change 2018 successfully attracted nearly 1,000 start-up ideas from students from 40 universities and colleges nationwide. After 5 rounds of competition, the first prize was given to the Chatbot eCommerce project, second prize and third prize were given ProBike and BikeMech respectively. In addition to the cash prizes, representatives of the projects will be offered a two-week training program at the Korean Start-up Campus.
